Kefta tagine (Meatballs with eggs)


For minced meat

  • 450 g minced meat.
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin.
  • 1tablespoon full of Paprika.
  • 1/2 onion chopped very fine (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley.
  • Salt, black pepper to taste.

For the sauce

  • 6 large canned/ fresh tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin.
  • 1 tablespoon full of Paprika.
  • 1/2 chopped onion.
  • 1 clove garlic chopped.
  • Chopped parsley.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • 4 eggs.


  1.  Start by preparing the kefta by mixing the minced meat, onion, spices and parsley. Mix well
  2. Using your hands shape the kefta mixture into small meatballs the size of large cherries
  3. In a tajine, heat the olive oil, add the tomatoes with chopped onion add the rest of the sauce ingredients
  4. Add the minced meatballs, cover and cook over medium-low to medium heat
  5. When the meat is cooked break the eggs on the tajine, add salt and cover once more the tajine and let the eggs cook (the yellow must remain flowing)
  6. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately with homemade bread.enjoy!
