Argan oil is the most expensive oil in the world, the Argan tree in which the oil is produced from is located in the south of Morocco near Agadir. It is considered to be one of the rarest species of trees in the world; Morocco is one of the only places in the world where these trees are found and grown to create the richness that is Argan oil. Many have tried to grow these tree seeing the wonders it brings but has not been successful in their attempts for reasons that are unknown. Even in some parts of Morocco like the north, you will find that there are not Argan trees in the region as they cannot grow there. Due to its rarity, UNESCO and other international organizations such as the European Commission want to provide ‘greater economic and Consultative support’ to this region, so that this rare and unique natural resource can be preserved and for great environmental and economic success.
Around the world the Argan tree is known for its famous nutritious and healing benefits, it is considered as a beauty oil that is filled with natural vitamin E. But for the native region of Morocco the Argan tree serves many other important functions such as providing food, shelter and livelihood and is also crucial for the ecological balance of the region.
